About Lyndsey

Lyndsey Lewellen is a Christy award-winning author of The Chaos Grid duology and the Harlow Morgan series. She writes imaginative science fiction and fantasy worlds, packed with danger, resilience, and bold young heroines. Her stories race toward adventure, wonder, and journeys of redemption.

As a struggling reader, she never imagined she’d become an author. Growing up on comic books and punk rock music, she was convinced she’d spend her life illustrating superheroes or singing on stage. Words didn’t jumble together in drawings or songs like they did in novels. It wasn’t until her mother convinced her to read The Scarlet Pimpernel in high school that she fell in love with the written word. She battled through each paragraph, reading them over and over till she understood. But with promises of swordfights and sweeping romance, she kept reading through to the last page. It was then she discovered that experiencing the beauty found in stories sometimes takes perseverance.

Reading didn’t get easier overnight, but the worlds she unlocked were worth the fight. Soon, her love for science fiction and years working in a comic book shop translated into an appetite for speculative novels. It was that love combined with her time teaching young girls the Bible that inspired her to write encouraging stories for teens young adults. She hopes her novels will spark a love for literature in both avid readers and late-bloomers like herself. Her stories feature bold characters who aren’t afraid to take risks. Overcoming many mistakes, they grow and fight for what matters.

Lyndsey is passionate about exploring resilience, identity, and survival in her futuristic worlds.

When she’s not writing, reading, or whittling down her endless TBR, she designs covers for novels and paints on shoes. She lives on a small Texas farm with her best friend/husband, their five children, and what some might call a zoo of animals (especially after meeting the peacocks).

A little more about me (in bullet form):

  • I was once in a punk rock band with my husband. My favorite show we played was, of course, our wedding.

  • After high school, I worked in a comic book store. It’s still one of my favorite jobs.

  • I’m convinced “rural” is the worst word in the English language. (Not fun for a girl who lives on a farm.)

  • I teach Bible to teen girls at my church. I love watching them grow in their faith.

  • All my children are named after C.S. Lewis’ characters.

  • My favorite book will always be the Bible. You don’t get better world building than God’s world building. Jesus is the best protagonist I’ve ever read. I love Him in literature and in real life.
